This is just a story of someone who fell, stayed down for a bit, then got back up — with a spatula in one hand and a lot to prove.

Today, as I prepped my first corporate order at Phoodiemonk, my heart swelled with pride — but a familiar heaviness lingered. Handing over Kolkata Biryani pots to @fit_with_vishwa , my batchmate at Engineering college who now works at Johnson Controls at Yerwada’s CommerZone, dressed once again in formals, my eyes welled up. The setting was familiar, but this time, the journey behind it was anything but. 

Just a few kms away was the IT hub where I once walked in every morning, full of ambition, drive, and belief. I wore ambition like a second skin. Targets, deadlines, coffee, repeat. That decade long chapter didn’t end the way I had imagined. But looking back now, I see how it all added up.

As a sales professional, I thrived in the chase — setting targets, breaking them, and then setting tougher ones. But more than numbers, it was always about people. I loved learning about my customers and solving their business problems. That’s the thread that has carried me — from pitching WordPress solutions to now serving slow-cooked, hand-crafted meals.

From building two companies from apartments to shiny polished offices, to now stirring every pot at Phoodiemonk — the twists, the stumbles, the backstabs and the belly laughs — taught me more than any B-school ever could (and I didn’t even go to one).

Thank you to everyone who has shaped this journey — the believers, the encouragers, and yes, even the ones who smiled to my face and pulled the rug.

I’ve been in Pune for 8+ years now, working in IT Sales and slowly learning to live far from home. What I missed the most wasn’t just Bengal — it was the comfort of familiar flavours. The kind of meals that feel like a hug after a long week.

After trying and tiring of the usual food trails, I started cooking for myself. And when my mom moved in with me, her magic in the kitchen gave this journey its real spark.
What started as a shared craving became Phoodiemonk — where maa and I cook hearty, soulful Bengali meals every weekend. No shortcuts. No outsourcing. Just the two of us, doing it all with love, for those who miss home — or are just curious to try something honest and special.

Though our kitchen was open only on Sunday, last weekend turned out to be truly special. On Saturday, we proudly delivered our very first bulk order for a family gathering (more on that story soon!), and on Sunday, our beloved Phoodies came through once again—with 21 plates of biryani going out to homes across Pune!

You ordered your favourites, and we were thrilled to serve them. The Kolkata-style biryani remains the undisputed favourite, while our starter, Dahi Vada, and the sweet finish with Chhena Poda (our version of an Indian cheesecake!) won many hearts.
